How A Windshield Washer Pump Works

A windshield washer pump moves fluid from the reservoir through the washer hoses to the spray outlets. It works with the washer controls and fluid supply to wet the glass before the wipers clear it.

A-Premium offers pumps for selected front and rear washer applications. Match the vehicle, electrical connection and hose arrangement to the pump being replaced; a washer fluid level sensor is a separate part that reports fluid level.

Choosing And Diagnosing A Washer Pump

Match the pump's reservoir connection and hose outlets to the installed washer arrangement. The pump must sit correctly at the reservoir while allowing the hoses and electrical connector to follow their intended routes.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Can the same washer pump be used for the front and rear window?

Some vehicles use separate front and rear pumps; others use a pump specified for more than one position. One A-Premium Honda pump is listed for front or rear on its stated applications. Match the installed system and hose connections.

Does a washer pump include a reservoir grommet?

Some A-Premium pumps explicitly include one. The Honda and Kia examples specify a rubber grommet, but the selected product's package should be checked for the seal needed at the reservoir.

Why can the pump run without washer fluid reaching the glass?

A kinked or disconnected hose, restricted outlet or insufficient fluid can interrupt the flow. Check the path from reservoir to glass before concluding that a running pump is the only problem.
