Choosing An Interior Door Handle

Match the mounting and linkage, interior color and lock equipment to the original handle. A listing may describe a bezel or power-lock configuration; check the actual package rather than assuming every handle includes the same surrounding parts.

A handle that moves but does not open the door can involve the cable, latch or lock setting. Inspect the mechanism before deciding which part needs attention.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Is an interior door handle interchangeable with an exterior handle?

The inside and outside handles mount and connect differently. Choose the interior handle for the affected door rather than treating it as an outside replacement.

Can the same interior handle fit both front and rear doors?

Some applications are listed that way, but others are position-specific. An A-Premium Honda Accord handle is identified for the front or rear driver side, while another product specifies only the front driver side.

Does the handle include the surrounding bezel?

Check the selected package. One Nissan Altima handle is explicitly listed with a bezel; that does not establish bezel inclusion for every handle.

Will a new handle include the door latch and cable?

The handle, release cable and latch are separate parts of the door mechanism. A handle listing does not automatically include the other components, so inspect the package and the failed connection.

Why might a rear door not open from the inside?
