An engine air filter serves as the front line of security for your powertrain. Every time an internal combustion engine runs, it acts as a high-powered vacuum, pulling in thousands of gallons of atmospheric air through the intake tract. Inside the combustion chambers, fuel burns with this air to release heat energy, creating high-pressure gases that push the pistons down (linear motion).
