An AC evaporator must be chosen for the correct HVAC case. Front and rear units can use different housings, mounting points, and refrigerant-line locations, so they should not be treated as interchangeable. Those details narrow the application before core dimensions or construction type are considered.

The evaporator sits inside the HVAC case and absorbs heat from cabin air.
