Choosing An AC Evaporator Core Replacement

The core must fit the HVAC housing and connect to the vehicle's refrigerant lines. Some listings identify a pressing plate; others describe a core without establishing that accessory.

How is an AC evaporator different from a condenser?

The evaporator absorbs heat from cabin air inside the HVAC system. The condenser releases refrigerant heat to outside air, usually at the front of the vehicle. They have different locations and jobs.

Can a front evaporator be used for the rear HVAC unit?

Front and rear units can use different housings and connections. A-Premium lists a front core for certain Ford applications and a rear core for selected GM vehicles; choose the position specified for the vehicle.

Does every AC evaporator include a pressing plate?
