Internal corrosion can affect master-cylinder and caliper bores, wheel cylinders, steel lines, hose fittings, and the valves and pump inside an ABS hydraulic unit. A pedal that feels spongy, moves closer to the floor, or requires more travel to produce braking force can indicate vapor or air in the hydraulic system.
