INFINITI Brake Rotors

INFINITI Brake Rotors With Sport-Brake Exclusions

INFINITI brake rotors can distinguish factory brake packages within a model family. Some applications exclude Sport brakes, while others specify a particular drive layout. Keep those restrictions with the complete vehicle application before comparing discs. Rotor dimensions describe the hub fit and working position; the correct mounting pattern, height and thickness must all suit the intended axle, regardless of whether another option shares a similar appearance or material.

INFINITI Rotor Mounting Holes And Hub Fit

A six-hole mounting pattern states the number of attachment openings, with hole spacing and the rest of the hub-interface dimensions specified separately.

The rotor attaches at the wheel hub, where the center opening, bolt pattern and mounting face work together to locate it. Hole count tells you only how many openings there are; bolt-circle diameter describes their spacing. Rotor height then positions the friction surface relative to the caliper. Compare these dimensions as a group when similar-looking options appear for the same model. This is especially useful when a vehicle was offered with more than one brake package or wheel-end arrangement.

Mounting Height On INFINITI Brake Rotors

Each rotor also needs the specified mounting height for its working position within the brake assembly.

Rotor height describes how the braking surface sits relative to the mounting face. The raised center section, often called the hat, positions the disc within the caliper. Two rotors can share an outside diameter yet have different heights, putting their friction faces in different positions. When comparing replacements, read height together with the center opening and attachment pattern. The result should be the original relationship between hub, rotor and pads, without using spacers or other improvised changes to make a mismatched disc fit.

Comparing Complete Rotor Dimensions

A disc's outside diameter forms one part of its complete dimensional specification.

Outside diameter defines the disc's working circle, thickness describes its cross-section, and mounting height places the friction faces relative to the caliper. The center opening and bolt pattern connect those dimensions to the hub. Read them as one specification for the intended axle. A photograph helps show the design, but measurements resolve differences that can be difficult to see. If the brakes have been modified, identify the fitted assembly before using factory-application dimensions to order its replacement discs.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Can a drive-layout restriction be ignored when the model name matches?

The stated G35 application specifies rear-wheel drive. Retain that restriction with the year, axle and other brake-equipment conditions rather than extending it to an all-wheel-drive version. A shared model name is a starting point; the full entry identifies the assembly the rotor is intended to fit.

Can nominal thickness be used as the old disc?s wear limit?

A replacement rotor's nominal thickness describes the new component. The installed disc's minimum thickness is a service limit and must be considered with surface condition and structural damage. Use the limit for that actual disc rather than transferring a new-part measurement into a wear threshold for another application.

Are vented rotors and drilled rotors the same type of description?

A vented rotor has passages inside the disc body. Drilling refers to holes on its working faces. Keep the required internal structure and Sport-brake exclusion when comparing compatible replacements; a face pattern does not change which factory brake assembly the disc can serve.

Why are new pads normally fitted with new discs?

Used pads have worn against their old discs and can bring uneven contact or damage to a new surface. Plan suitable new pads across the affected axle, separately or in an appropriate INFINITI brake rotor and pad kit, while checking fitting hardware and retained components.

Can lubricant be applied to the rotor faces to reduce noise?

Keep oil and grease away from the rotor's working faces and pad friction material. Brake lubricant belongs only at the service points permitted by the component instructions. Have the cause of noise or contamination identified and corrected instead of treating a lubricated friction surface as an acceptable repair. Retained clips and guides may need attention if restricted movement contributes to the sound.
