Ford Fusion Fuel Pump Assembly

Ford Fuel Pump Options for Single- and Dual-Tank Systems

Ford fuel systems cover a wide range of layouts, so the correct part may depend on replacement format, tank count, tank position, fuel type, engine, capacity, connector, or outlet configuration. Determine whether the vehicle has a single or dual tank and whether the repair concerns a pump-only part or a complete module before comparing components.

The fitment for this Ford Fusion fuel pump assembly can help illustrate the required level of detail.

Ford Fuel Pump Fitment by Tank Position

Front, rear, and center or midship descriptions identify different tank roles. On a dual-tank vehicle, confirm which tank is being serviced and do not order by overall module appearance. The selected part must name the correct position and agree with the original sender arrangement and mounting design.

Fuel Type, Engine, and Tank Capacity Checks

Fuel type, engine application, and tank capacity are separate fitment checks. Follow the exact wording on the selected Ford part when it identifies a fuel type, engine, or standard-range tank. Do not carry that condition to another model or assume that a shared year range makes the assemblies interchangeable.

Ford Fuel Pump Connector, Pin, and Outlet-Port Variations

Count the electrical terminals and fuel-line outlets on the original module. Ford modules can differ in pin arrangement and one-versus-two outlet configurations, so both the plug and tube layout need to match. Avoid splicing a harness or rerouting a line to make a near-match fit.

Identify the Correct Sender and Tank Position

A complete module may include the fuel-level sender, while a pump-only option leaves more of the original assembly in service. Verify the required format and tank position before ordering. Once installed, confirm normal gauge operation and check the flange and all fuel connections for leaks.
