How does a fuel pump assembly work in my vehicle?

The fuel pump system operates on a simple yet vital principle: constant circulation and pressurized delivery. When you turn the key, the electric fuel pump is activated, drawing fuel through a strainer to remove large debris.

The pump then pushes the fuel through the lines toward the fuel injectors, with each injector spraying fuel into the engine as part of the fuel injection process.
