Jeep Side Mirror Glass

How to Match Side Mirror Glass Before You Buy

A side mirror glass replacement renews the reflective element when the housing and adjustment mechanism are still usable.

Match your vehicle's year, make, model, trim, and build notes first. Then confirm driver or passenger side, glass outline, backing plate, and every original function. Heated glass, blind-spot indicators, auto-dimming connections, turn-signal displays, and spotter sections are not interchangeable by appearance alone.

Mirror Glass Only or a Complete Mirror Assembly?

Choose glass only when the housing, base, adjustment motor, wiring, and folding mechanism work and the damage is limited to the reflective element or its holder. A complete side mirror is the more appropriate category when the mounting base is cracked, the shell is broken, or an internal mechanism has failed. If only the painted or textured outer shell is damaged, compare a mirror cover before replacing more parts than necessary.

Driver, Passenger, Flat, and Convex Mirror Glass

Car mirror glass varies by position and optical shape. The left and right pieces may use different curvature, mounts, and markings, so they should not be treated as reversible. Some assemblies also have separate upper, lower, or spotter sections.

• Position: Match left driver or right passenger side using the listing, not a photo alone.
• Glass profile: Keep the specified flat or convex design and compare the complete outline.
• Holder: Check whether a molded backing plate is included or whether the listing supplies glass only.

Match Heating, Sensors, and Electrical Connections

Wing mirror glass can look correct while missing a needed terminal or display. Compare the product details with the functions already present on the vehicle: heating terminals, blind-spot warning icon, auto-dimming cable, turn-signal indicator, power-adjust backing plate, and any spotter glass. A vehicle may have several mirror options within the same model year. Retain the original feature set unless the product page specifically explains a supported change, and review every fitment note before ordering.

Also compare glass color, edge shape, etched markings, and the location of any warning icon. A clear and a tinted element may share an outline but differ in viewing characteristics. When available, use the original part number and connector photos as secondary checks after the vehicle selector. If any feature is uncertain, inspect the existing glass and wiring before placing the order.

Removal, Installation, and Final Checks

Mirror glass attachment methods vary. Some replacements snap to a motor plate, while others use a holder, clips, adhesive, or electrical leads. Follow vehicle-specific service information and the instructions supplied with the part. Protect your hands and painted surfaces, support the glass during removal, and avoid pulling on heater wires. After installation, verify secure retention, full adjustment travel, clear visibility, and each retained electrical function before driving. If the image shakes, inspect the holder and mirror assembly instead of assuming the new glass is defective.
