Choosing Windshield Wiper Blades
Windshield wiper blades must match the glass position, required length and connection at the wiper arm. Some sets cover the two front arms; others include a rear blade as well. Check each position in the package because the rear arm can use a different attachment from the front arms.
The blade is the replaceable wiping component, while the arm holds it against the glass. Select a blade and adapter that lock securely to the arm already on the vehicle.
How Windshield Wipers Clear The Glass
When the wipers are switched on, a motor and linkage move the arms across the glass. Each blade follows that movement, and its flexible wiping edge clears water from the surface. A worn edge or poor contact can leave bands of water in the driver's view.
When To Replace Wiper Blades
Inspect the wiping edge for tears, cracks or loss of flexibility, and pay attention to streaks, missed areas or chattering. Sun, weather and use affect wear, so the condition of the blades and their wiping performance are more useful than assuming the same replacement interval for every vehicle.
A-Premium offers blade combinations with different front and rear adapters for selected applications. Make sure each new blade is fully secured to its arm before use.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Are the driver and passenger wiper blades always the same length?
They can be different lengths. Some front sets contain two matching blades, while others use a longer blade on one side and a shorter one on the other. Match each position to the vehicle's specified size rather than ordering two identical lengths by default.
Can cleaning help when wipers leave streaks?
Dirt on the glass or wiping edge can leave smears. Clean the windshield and blades using the vehicle manufacturer's instructions, then check the wiping result. If streaks remain or the edge is damaged, replacement may be needed.
Should I run the wipers when they are frozen to the glass?
Defrost the windshield and free the blades before switching the wipers on. Forcing frozen blades to move can damage the wiping system, and a clear windshield is needed before driving.
Will new blades fix a wiper arm that does not move?
A new blade replaces the wiping edge and its support, not the motor or linkage that moves the arm. An electrical fault or a damaged drive component can also prevent movement, so identify the cause before replacing the blades.
Must the rear blade be replaced with the front blades?
The rear blade can be assessed separately when it is a separate service part. A front-and-rear set is convenient if all the included blades need replacement, but make sure the rear length and connection suit the vehicle.
