INFINITI Brake Pads

INFINITI Brake Pads By Brake Package

INFINITI brake pads can depend on the brake package as well as the model and year. Brembo exclusions and build-date restrictions can separate otherwise similar options, and neither condition can be inferred from the brand name alone. These conditions identify different installed assemblies, so keep them attached to the parts you select. After establishing the correct configuration, compare axle coverage, friction material and accessories to assemble the parts needed for the planned repair.

Check Build Dates For INFINITI Pad Applications

The FX45 entries for one front-and-rear pad set specify vehicles built after November 2005. Check the vehicle's production information when applying that restriction.

Production information can resolve applications that a model year alone does not distinguish. A build-date cutoff identifies the vehicles covered before or after a change, while a stated factory or country identifies a different production condition. Use the type of information actually requested by the fitment note; registration date is not a substitute for a build date. Keep any production requirement with the same entry's axle and brake-equipment conditions, so that separate applications are not combined into broader coverage than the part provides.

Match INFINITI Pads To The Front Calipers

A front pad set serves the driver and passenger sides of the specified front brake assembly. Its backing shape must suit those calipers.

The backing plate locates the pad in its supports and transfers the caliper's force to the friction material. Its outline, tabs and contact points must match the installed assembly so the pad sits and moves as intended. Keep the axle and any brake-equipment conditions attached to that configuration. Front and rear pads can differ even within one vehicle, and a similar photograph may conceal a different support shape. Once the mechanical match is established, compare friction formulations and the accessories supplied for that application.

Decide Whether Pads Alone Complete The Repair

A rear pad set covers only its stated rear application. If the discs also need attention, compare matching INFINITI brake rotors using the same axle and brake-package conditions.

A pad set renews the friction material that presses against the rotor. Before choosing a pad-only repair, have the discs checked for thickness, surface damage and corrosion, and inspect the calipers and guides for proper movement. Uneven wear on the old pads can point to a problem that needs correction alongside the new set. When those surrounding components remain serviceable, the appropriate pad set can cover the repair without adding rotors or hydraulic parts that inspection has not shown to be necessary.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Can rear INFINITI pads be used in the front brakes?

Keep rear pads in their specified position. Matching a front pad's width alone does not establish compatibility with the front caliper. Front and rear assemblies may require different backing outlines, dimensions and fittings even when both replacements use the same friction material.

Will ceramic pads keep the wheels completely free of brake dust?

Ceramic friction material still wears against the disc during braking, so some brake dust should be expected. Choose it for a compatible application and assess any dust-reduction claim on the specific product's supporting information, rather than interpreting the ceramic label as a dust-free promise.

Can fitting clips be assumed from the number of pads supplied?

Some INFINITI pad packages include mounting hardware. Read that accessory information alongside the pad count so you know which fittings are supplied. Brake-package exclusions still apply to the set; included clips do not make it suitable for an otherwise excluded caliper arrangement.

Can a mechanical wear indicator replace an electronic connection?

Do not assume that the two indicator arrangements are interchangeable. They use different means of signaling wear and must suit the brake assembly and vehicle requirements. Confirm the specified indicator type and whether it is included, rather than treating any pad with a wear-warning feature as an electrical replacement.

Do new friction parts reset the brake-fluid maintenance schedule?

New discs or pads do not renew the fluid throughout the brake circuit. Fluid maintenance remains subject to the vehicle's requirements and the condition of the hydraulic system. Keep that service decision separate from the visible condition or age of the friction parts being fitted to an axle. For the distinction between these services, see the brake fluid and friction-part replacement guide.

Brake Pads Overhanging the Rotor: Is It Normal?

Brake pad friction material overhanging the rotor is usually abnormal. While backing plate overhang can be normal, exposed lining requires inspection. Learn causes, safety risks, and how to verify correct fitment before driving.
