A disc horn uses a flatter housing, while a snail-style horn has a curved acoustic housing. Their sound and electrical specifications depend on the individual product; one shape is not automatically louder or compatible with every vehicle.

Some vehicles use different high and low tones together, but a two-piece count alone does not establish the frequency of each horn. Check the specifications and intended application of the selected set.

Some A-Premium horns explicitly include connectors. One listed single snail horn specifies one connector and a paired listing specifies two. Check the selected package and compare the connector with the vehicle's wiring.

The replacement must also suit the vehicle's circuit, current demand, mounting and intended sound. Some listed horns specify 12 volts, but matching voltage or plug shape alone is not a complete compatibility check.

A contact or connecting cable in the steering-wheel control can be involved. HELLA documents that pattern on a specific MINI application. Because the control can be near the airbag, use the vehicle's restraint-system service procedure for diagnosis.
