2019 Toyota Avalon Blower Motor

4 items

A cabin blower motor drives the fan that moves air through the heating and air-conditioning housing. Choose the front or rear position required by the vehicle and compare the connector, mounting flange and fan-wheel arrangement. Vehicles with separate rear climate equipment may use a different blower for that unit.

Choosing A Cabin Blower Motor

A cabin blower motor drives the fan that moves air through the heating and air-conditioning housing. Choose the front or rear position required by the vehicle and compare the connector, mounting flange and fan-wheel arrangement. Vehicles with separate rear climate equipment may use a different blower for that unit.

Some A-Premium blower assemblies include the fan wheel; selected packages also include a speed-control resistor. Check the parts listed for the specific package before planning the repair.

How An HVAC Blower Moves Air

The blower pushes cabin air through the HVAC housing for ventilation, heating or cooling. The same fan can move air in each of those modes; the heater core, refrigerant circuit and air doors perform different functions.

A motor that runs but moves little air may need a different check from a fan that does not turn. Inspect the airflow path as well as the electrical supply and speed-control circuit when symptoms point to either.

Blower Motor Wheels And Mounting

The fan wheel and its housing must have the correct clearance and mounting arrangement. An assembly supplied with its wheel avoids transferring that particular piece, but still needs the correct electrical connection and fit for the HVAC housing.

Keep hands clear of the fan whenever it might be powered, and use the vehicle's service procedure before opening the housing.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Why does the blower work only at its highest speed?

On some systems, lower speeds pass through a resistor circuit that differs from the high-speed path. A resistor, connector or related wiring fault can cause this symptom. Test the circuit before assuming the blower motor itself has failed.

What can cause a blower to squeak or rattle?

Leaves or other debris in the fan area, a damaged wheel, loose mounting or motor wear can cause noise. Locate the source before ordering parts; a noisy fan does not identify a single cause.

Can a clogged cabin air filter reduce airflow?

A restricted filter can limit air reaching the vents even while the blower motor runs. If the vehicle has a cabin filter, inspect its condition and the accessible air path as part of a weak-airflow diagnosis.

Why can the blower run after the vehicle is switched off?

Some vehicles use a timed ventilation function after shutdown, while unintended continuous operation can indicate an electrical control problem. Compare the behavior with the owner's instructions and investigate operation outside the normal range.

What should I do if the blower produces a burning smell?

Switch off the HVAC system and arrange prompt inspection. An overheated connector or speed-control component can produce a burning smell or smoke, and continuing to operate it may worsen the problem.
